Yes, you read that right; we lost a £50k Hyvä build!
“How” you ask? Let me explain..
The Client
Epic Militaria are one of our great long-standing customers that had been planning a move from Luma to Hyvä (for obvious reasons)
With a budget of £50,000, they were expecting a fully custom theme, some new features they were currently lacking, an improved UX, and the reduction of unnecessary clutter and code within the Luma stack
Epic were expecting this Hyvä build to take a few months which would include the build itself, testing, and tweaks. However, we had a different idea…
Miami
We began outlining their current site functionality and created a list of requirements:
- Current features
- New features for consideration
- Desire to reduce clutter and technical debt
After careful consideration, we couldn’t stop thinking that Miami was a solution, so we contacted the client to seek their trust…
They trusted us, and within 3 days we had their new Hyvä site ready on Miami. No long waits, no unnecessary complexity, just a high performance site ready to go!
Here's the kicker...
Because the implementation of their new store on Miami was so fast, we didn’t need to use their £50k budget. Instead, we simply used their existing retainer hours for the build meaning their budget was untouched!
What this means for you
This story is exactly why Miami exists in the first place. We’re not here to squeeze every last penny out of clients; we’re here to deliver real value. Fast and effective solutions that actually make sense.
If you're thinking about moving to Hyvä, you don’t need a massive budget or months of development time. You just need the right approach! If you are talking to agencies boasting of large development teams, that could be a red-flag that you could be led into a project with high technical debt and escalating future costs.
In Summary
- Epic Militaria had a £50k budget for a Hyvä build
- We implemented Miami in 3 days
- We used their retainer hours instead of their budget
- They kept their £50k!
